Re: tell me more
Tue, February 10, 2004 - 5:46 PMI have some thoughts on that!:)
First thing is to say, that in my oppinion theatre improv is therapeutic in iteslf. I came to the field of Drama therapy because of my experiences with improv-- opening me up, expanding my roles on stage expanded those in my life, being spontaneous is always a movement towards health, etc...many reasons.
The relationship for me is an overlap where some of the same games are played at times with clients and groups as in improv shows and classes!
But THEN...there is much more to drama therapy. So I am trying to say that the more surface/beginning phases of drama therapy CAN overlap with improv very much.
the next stages do not. Which are different depending on the therapist and what school they follow...(YES believe it or not, it is a varied field).
oop, I'm late for class...ask away if I am not clear/ I'll check the site more:)
